Primary Aircraft Control Surfaces

Primary Aircraft Control Systems
-
Control Yoke (Joystick/Stick)
- The primary control device for managing roll and pitch.
- Pitch-Up: Lifting the aircraft’s nose by pulling the yoke backward.
- Pitch-Down: Lowering the aircraft’s nose by pushing the yoke forward.
- Roll: Rotating the aircraft around its longitudinal axis by turning the yoke left or right.
-
Rudder Pedals
- Used for directional control (yaw) by rotating the aircraft around its vertical axis.
- Pressing the right pedal turns the aircraft's nose to the right.
- Frequently used during takeoff and landing to control movement along the runway.
-
Throttle Levers
- Regulate engine thrust, thus controlling flight speed.
- Manual Control: Thrust is adjusted manually using the levers.
- Autothrottle: Maintains a set speed by automatically managing the throttle levers.
